[Machine Translation] Koto player LEO has emerged as a newcomer in the world of Japanese instruments, winning numerous competitions and music awards, performing with orchestras in Japan and abroad, and making unprecedented appearances as a koto player on stages such as Blue Note Tokyo and Summer Soni. His album "GRID//OFF" released in 2023 attracted a lot of attention for its music that challenged beyond all stereotypes and frameworks from jazz to electro. For his latest album, LEO pursues an even more original worldview, and collaborates with a wide variety of musicians and artists from different countries and genres. The collaborators include such genius musicians as Yudai Bando, Shohei Amimori, and Kazuya Oi, electronic duo LAUSBUB, jazz pianist Masaki Hayashi, and many others, as well as composer-pianist Misaki Umei, with whom he collaborated on a track mixed by Ozora Kimijima. He also co-wrote and performed with world-renowned pianist Francesco Tristano. For the past few years, I have been searching for what I can do with the koto and how I can expand its possibilities, but this time, I thought about what I can create as a musician," said LEO, who not only played the instrument but also composed and produced each song in dialogue with the respective artists.
