 Description
"Gaiking," produced as Toei Animation's first original giant robot anime during the peak era of robot anime beginning with "Mazinger Z," and "Gaiking LEGEND OF DAIKU-MARYU," which was produced and broadcast in 2005 as a remake with a renewed style and gained popularity, are works that represent the royal path of super robot anime distinct from real robot anime. The heroism of the flame robot Gaiking is expressed through the power of the special move Hydro Blazer, which amplifies and releases the protagonist's firepower, and through the innovative concept of a giant mother ship that is a demon dragon whose head becomes the torso of the robot, with meticulous mecha action and the greatest number of built in weapons in the long history of robot anime, drawing attention for its high level of completion. The protagonist Daiya Tsuwabuki is played by Mayumi Tanaka, known for voicing Luffy in "ONE PIECE." As a boy, Daiya Tsuwabuki went out to sea with his father on a small boat and witnessed black flames blazing on the ocean. From within them a giant monster appeared, and his father and the crew disappeared into the sea. In that moment, a giant mechanical dragon appeared and protected Daiya. Five years later, when a giant monster again appeared on land, Daiya, now a junior high school student, reunited with the giant mechanical dragon called "Daiku Maryu." The head of Daiku Maryu flew out, and with a skull as its torso, the super robot Gaiking appeared. Daiya became the pilot of Gaiking and defeated the giant monster. Informed of the existence of enemy monsters targeting the surface world, Daiya set out for the other world Darius. As video extras, it includes a digest video of the talk segment from the 20th anniversary event "Gaiking LEGEND OF DAIKU-MARYU 20th Anniversary Fan Meeting" held on November 15, 2025 at Nakano ZERO Small Hall (guests: Riku Sanjo, Masami Obari, Hiroyuki Sakurada), and the pilot version "Daiku Maryu Gaiking Neo."
