Description
A true story from 20 years ago, Japan's first officially recognized case of a teacher bullying a child, is adapted into a film based on Masumi Fukuda's reportage. Directed by Takashi Miike and starring Go Ayano, Ko Shibasaki, Kazuya Kamenashi, Ayano Kimura and more. In 2003, elementary school teacher Seiichi Yabushita (Go Ayano) is accused of corporal punishment against student Takuto Himuro by his mother Ritsuko (Ko Shibasaki). What was labeled as corporal punishment was, in fact, unbearable bullying. Michihiko Narumi (Kazuya Kamenashi), a reporter for the weekly Shunpo, picks up the story and decides to publish it under real names. His sensational words shock society, and Yabushita becomes a target of the mass media. Slander, betrayal, suspension, and a collapsing daily life drive him into relentless despair. Meanwhile, public opinion rallies behind Ritsuko, and a "massive 550-member defense team" is formed, escalating the case into an unprecedented civil trial. Everyone expected and even longed for Ritsuko's victory, but in court, Yabushita completely denies the allegations, declaring them all to be "fabricated lies"... Bonus footage includes making-of, official interviews (Go Ayano, Ko Shibasaki, Kazuya Kamenashi), premiere event, opening day stage greeting, teaser, trailer, and TV spot collection.
