¡Fine and Dandy
¡Hod O'Brien

 Description
[Machine Translation] Active at the forefront of the New York jazz scene since the 1950s, playing with Oscar Pettiford, Donald Byrd, and others, Hod O'Brien continued to play bop piano until his death in 2016. In recent years, his daughter Veronica Swift has been remarkably active, but this Fresh Sound disc is a masterpiece that captures O'Brien at his mature age, and is especially well known among jazz piano fans. The songs of Tad Dameron and Kenny Dorham, whom O'Brien admired, are played with a vivid piano touch. The two sidemen are both successful West Coast-based musicians who have performed with Claude Williamson and others. Their fine performances are also worth listening to. Recorded at Entourage Studios, Hollywood, December 19 & 20, 2000. Members: Hod O'Brien(p), Tom Warrington(b), Paul Kreibich(d)
