¡Boku ga Inochi wo Itadaita Mikkakan
¡Japanese Movie
Description
[Machine Translation] The theme of the film is traditional Japanese food culture, and it is a "food education entertainment" film that questions the essence of human life. Yusuke (Yohito Wakayama), a sixth grader living in the city, visits his father Keita's (Kazuya Takahashi) mountain village for the first time in his life. At Keita's suggestion, he spends his winter vacation at his grandparents' house where Genzo ( Denden ) and Fumi ( Chieko Matsubara ) live. Yusuke finally arrives at the house and is greeted by Genzo and Fumi, who are surrounded by blue skies and mountain greenery. What awaits Yusuke, however, is a meal of only brown food, hard farm work, and an encounter with a strange old man, Tatsuo ( Toshio Sakata ), who lives nearby.... Yusuke's desire to return home as soon as possible grows, but an encounter with Tatsuo's granddaughter, Asuka ( Yuna Taira ), is the only thing that keeps him from returning home. One day, however, Genzo brings Yusuke something that he says is "a feast for tonight," and Yusuke is shocked by something that he has never experienced in his city life. Asuka teaches Yusuke the true meaning of "Itadasasu" (Thank you for the food). She also has a surprising past that no one knows about...
