 Description
[Machine Translation] The story of a young hero who fought to protect his hometown, the land and people of Tohoku. The setting is ancient Japan. The story depicts on an unprecedented scale the life of Ateruyui, a hero of the ancient Tohoku region, who gave up his life to save his family's future in the face of an attack by the Imperial Court's army that was trying to pacify the Tohoku region. At the end of the Nara period (710-794), a clan called the "Emishi Emishi" lived in the Tohoku region. The Yamato Imperial Court (Yamato), which was trying to control the whole of Japan, extended its hand to the Tohoku region. The son of the chief of Isawa (present-day Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture), Agaryu Tame, together with Yamato's former Emishi but now on the Yamato side, attacked the Yamato stronghold of Tagajo in order to recover his sister Asato, who had been taken away by the Yamato. They succeed in recapturing the younger sister, but the shock of the overrun has left her with amnesia. Agano's anger toward Yamato grows. Meanwhile, Marei returns to the Emishi side and predicts further advance of the Yamato forces. Deciding to engage in war, Agaryuwata persuaded his father, Akuto, who was not a fighter, to become a tribal chief and lead the Ezo army. [The Ezo army miraculously wins the war of Enryaku 13, but the war devastates the mountains and rivers that used to be abundant in the region. This was a great disadvantage to the Ezo army, which loved the nature of its homeland more than anything else. However, if the war was stopped, his family would be overrun. Agano's conflict over the war only deepened. The battle of Enryaku 18 barely halted the Yamato's progress, but the Emishi forces also inflicted heavy damage. The people's minds gradually drifted away, and the isolation of Agano deepened. However, in order to let as many people as possible escape, he was prepared to sacrifice his life in the final battle. Together with his ally, Haha Rei, he confronts his old enemy, Sakagami Tamuramaro.
