Description
John Landis' "An American Werewolf in London" presents a perfect blend of horror and comedy. Landis says he originally came up with the idea for this film about a decade earlier while working as a part of a film crew in Eastern Europe. Like the young Landis must have been back then, David (David Naughton), the film's tragic hero is a nice young Jewish American guy who travels through Europe with his best friend Jack (Griffin Dunne). During their tour of England, they are attacked by some terrifying creature on the Welsh moors. Jack is killed and David survives. With the help of a kind nurse (Jenny Agutter) David starts investigating on his own about what actually happened but only when his dead friend re-materializes in front of him, he realizes what kind of trouble he's in... The cult classic is packed with memorable moments, including the action-packed climax in Picadilly Circus, the gradual decomposition/zombification of Jack, not to mention David's transformation itself. Special makeup effects by six-time Academy Award winner Rick Baker still looks amazing after 20 years!
