Description
This Japanese edition exclusively features Hybrid SACD format (CD Stereo / SACD Stereo). Slipcase packaging faithfully replicating its original LP artwork. Comes with a booklet. This release is the one from the major project commemorating the 110th anniversary of the birth and 25th anniversary of the death of Sir Georg Solti, the conductor who was responsible for the project to record the complete studio recording of Wagner's great work "Der Ring des Nibelungen." The first ever complete studio recording of "Der Ring des Nibelungen" completed by Solti between 1958 and 1965 will be released from November 2022 to May 2023. This 2022 release uses DSD masters produced in 2022 from the original 1958 stereo master tapes. Directed by Andrew Wedman, formerly of Emil Berliner Studios, the tapes were tuned with a Studer A820 machine, a Weiss analog-to-digital converter, and a proprietary workstation that records the output. Some of the 38 original master tapes, the oldest of which were 65 years old, were in need of editorial repair and oxide stripping. The tapes in poor condition were successfully restored, and mastered anew at 24-bit/192 kHz high resolution. Mastering was done by DECCA engineer Philip Sidney.
