¡The Hundred Poems By One Hundred Poets
¡Hideki Togi & Kazuyo Mita
Description
[Machine Translation] This is a joint CD featuring various pieces by Hideki Togi, a gagaku (Japanese ancient court music) master, mainly using gagaku instruments such as Hichiriki and Sho, and recitations by Kazuyo Mita, an actress. The CD features a story about a woman who conveys her feelings through the 100 poems of the Japanese poet, and along the storyline, songs are selected for each season (spring, summer, fall, and winter), and for each category (love, travel, and life), and are woven into the story. Hideki Togi's performance is composed of songs appropriate to the scenes and sentiments of the songs, including shoka, Japanese songs, classical gagaku, pop music, and original compositions, and through them, depicts the "beautiful spirit of Japan," which has remained unchanged since the beginning of time. The performance is richly varied, with Togi's performance overlaid on Mita's rich narration and recitation, as well as music alone, classical gagaku, piano performance, and more. The waka poems featured are introduced in a booklet.
