¡KYOTO JAZZ SEXTET feat.Takeo Moriyama
Description
[Machine Translation] A dramatic encounter between an elite group led by Shuya Okino and a legendary drummer. The event connects the past and present of Japanese jazz, and illuminates tomorrow as an extension of the past. KYOTO JAZZ SEXTET is an acoustic jazz unit launched in 2015 by Shuya Okino of Kyoto Jazz Massive, a DJ and music producer unit with worldwide activities. The new album is their first in five years and features Takeo Moriyama, the best of Japanese jazz drumming, in all aspects. The two will perform together on November 20, 2021. The two artists performed together for the first time as headliners at the Tokyo Crossover/Jazz Festival 2021 held at Shinkiba ageHa @ STUDIO COAST on November 20, 2021. They overwhelmed the audience with their spirited collaboration that transcended generations. The album includes Moriyama's representative repertoire, which is popular among club jazz listeners, as well as a new song ("Father Forest") written by Shuya Okino. The album also features a robust and dynamic sound made possible by the all-analog recording process.
