This album contains four orchestral works and chamber music by Dvo ak, one of the most famous composers in the Czech Republic. Karajan recorded "The New World" twice in stereo for Deutsche Grammophon, and this is the first performance with the Berlin Philharmonic. The Slavonic Dances and Carnival were conducted by Kubelik, a fellow countryman of the composer, and the performances were full of sympathy for the works. The Piano Trio is performed by Philips, and the Serenade for Strings is performed by Decca.
