¡Kim Kashkashian (viola)

 Description
[Machine Translation] Singing violist Kim Kashkashian's new album is a collection of works by contemporary composers from her roots in Armenia and Israel. In May 2009, Kashkashian visited Japan for the first time in 14 years as a jury member of the Tokyo International Viola Competition. On the last day of the competition, he gave the Japan premiere of "Kawa yo, kawa yo" (River, River), a piece included in this album, at a gala concert. Mansourian himself played the piano for this album, performing a piece by the Armenian composer Komitas. He also includes a new work, "Three Arias," dedicated to Kashkashan. The Israeli composer Steinberg's work, originally written for vocal and wind ensemble, has been rewritten for viola and string quartet for Kashkashian. Throughout the album, Kashkashian's rich musicality and songfulness can be felt, and the album is so beautiful that it is easy to forget that the recorded music is a contemporary work. Direct import version with Japanese commentary.
