The scepter actually has magical powers and sends April back in time. She arrives in 1603, during the Warring States period in Japan. April is imprisoned by the feudal lord Norinaga, who thinks she is a witch. Meanwhile, Kenshin, Norinaga's son, has been sent back in time to present-day New York City in place of April. In order to rescue April, the Turtles travel back in time to the Sengoku period in Japan. They are confronted by powerful enemies, including a villainous feudal lord and pirates.
