Description
Perhaps the most inventive of all space-bound sci-fi series in recent years. It's more hip & bizarre than any of the Star Treks or Babylon 5 (while not quite as bizarre as 'Lexx'). While its basic premise is similar to "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century," (in both shows the hero is an American astronaut transported to an alien environment) the overall concept for characters and plots as well as conceptual designs have a definite punk/grunge edge. The awsome creature effects are done by Jim Henson's Creature Shop ('Babe,' 'Dr. Dolittle') who is also one of the show's production companies. Like Stargate SG-1, the series just keeps getting better. It boasts a damn good cast too, and except for Ben Browder (astronaut John Crichton) who is obviously American, the cast is comprised mostly of Australian actors since the series is produced in Australia. Browder and Claudia Black (Officer Aeryn Sun) are a particular joy to watch.
