Description
[Machine Translation] [The film is a new ambitious story by Tamizo Ishida, one of the best of his generation at depicting the group life of young women. --In the class of Fuyo Kajiyama (Kuniko Ashihara), a teacher at a girls' school in Osaka, there is Eiko Shinohara (Hideko Takamine), who stands out for her bright personality. She is the only daughter of a geisha house in Soemon-cho. One day, Eiko hits it off with Mitsuru Sada ( Misako Shimizu ), who has transferred from Tokyo. They became good friends and promised to embroider an embroidery with their names on it for Mr. Kajiyama's birthday. However, when Eiko suddenly decides to give a French doll with their names on it, Mitsuru believes that Eiko was trying to be the only good girl, and their friendship is broken. Eiko quits school to work as a maiko, and the two are separated. One day, Eiko, who is lying in bed sick, learns that Mitsuru's brother ( Susumu Mita ) has been called away. Eiko goes to the city in search of a thousand needles for Mitsuru... This is the first film in which Kuniko Ashihara, a star of the Takarazuka Girls' Revue, appears. The scene of Hideko Takamine's senjinbari was filmed on Shinsaibashi-dori, but it was very difficult to organize the scene because of the crowds of spectators.
