A new chief fisherman, Murakami ( Toshiro Mifune ), was appointed to the post, but the crew rebelled against him because of the difference in the way of doing things between him and Yano. The crew members protest against the difference between Yano's way of doing things and that of the fishermen, and incidents such as injuries during operations and longlines being washed away continue.
