Description
[Machine Translation] Unknown Soldier", a Finnish film depicting the "Continuation War" between Finland and the Soviet Union over territory during World War II, was released in Japan in 2019 and was a huge hit, winning many fans as a great war film. The 180-minute "Original Director's Cut" version of the film, which includes 48 minutes of previously unreleased scenes, is now being released on DVD. The film features characters and episodes not seen in the Japanese release version, and tells an even more epic and profound story. --In 1941, Finland, which had lost part of its territory in the "Winter War" with the Soviet Union the previous year, invaded the Soviet Union to regain its territory, and the "Continuation War" broke out. In this war, Finland organized an army of 500,000 men against a population of 4 million, and joined forces with Nazi Germany, the only neighboring country that was hostile to the Soviet Union, to fight against the mighty Soviet Union. Four soldiers belong to a machine gun company in the Finnish army: Rokka (Eero Aho), a skilled soldier who wants to reclaim his farmland stolen by the Soviets; Kalliruoto (Johannes Holopainen), an officer who left his fiancee to fight on the front line; Koskela (Jussi Vatanen), the kind-hearted captain who leads the company; and a kind-hearted graduate Hietanen ( Aku Hirviniemi ). They continue to fight across the old border with the Soviet Union for what they want to protect and where they want to go home.
