Description
[Machine Translation] The postwar history of Okinawa and the way of life of the men who fought there will give us a glimpse of its continuous history. After World War II, there was only one Japanese man in Okinawa under U.S. military rule who did not fear "oppression" and shouted "NO" to the U.S. military. Kamejiro Senaga was an Okinawan hero who stood up to the U.S. military with an "indomitable" spirit. Whenever he stood in front of the people and gave a speech, tens of thousands of people gathered and became enthusiastic. The U.S. military, fearing him, devised various schemes, but Kamejiro was a politician who continued to fight, changing his position from mayor of Naha to member of the Diet with the support of the people. This documentary brings to light the unknown truth about Kamejiro and his life of resistance through the testimonies of former Okinawa Governor Inamine, Kamejiro's second daughter, and others involved in the struggle. This is the first film directed by Sako Tadahiko of TBS TV, who served as an anchor on "Chikushi Tetsuya NEWS23" and was trained by Mr. Tetsuya Chikushi. The original music was written by Ryuichi Sakamoto, who sympathized with the main idea of the film. Ren Osugi, a famous motorcycle player, narrates the film.
