Shoji Kawamura (Hayato Ichihara), a stage director, and his magazine editor wife, Mie (Asami Usuda), move into Futabaso, a terrace house on a hill overlooking Yokohama Port. Although they are concerned about the high-handed attitude of the house's landlord, Kokichi Terada (Takeo Nakahara), and his wife, Naoko (Kazuko Yoshiyuki), Shoji and Mie get along well with the housewife, Saki Yai (Hana Yougetsu), who lives in the next room, and both get used to their new life. Shoji resigned from his job as a stage director, and with Mie's help, he decided to start a writing business at home. One morning, after dropping Mie off, Shoji senses a disturbing presence in the house. He sees a shadow in the house that should be empty...
