Based on the award-winning novel "Shonen to Inu" by Seishu Hase, which won the 163rd Naoki Prize in 2020. Plot: Six months after the earthquake in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Kazumasa, a young man who lost his job, encounters a dog named Tamon who also lost his owner in the disaster. Tamon quickly bonds with Kazumasa and his family, becoming an irreplaceable presence in their lives, but he always seems to be concerned with the direction of the west. In an effort to support his family, Kazumasa becomes involved in dangerous work, and during the turmoil, Tamon disappears. Time passes, and Tamon is now in Shiga Prefecture with a woman named Miwa, who is hiding a past crime. Through her time with Tamon, Miwa gradually regains a peaceful life. Then one day, Kazumasa, who has been searching for Tamon, appears in front of Miwa. Initially wary of Kazumasa, Miwa begins to open her heart to him through their shared connection with Tamon. However, the crime Miwa committed relentlessly follows them. "I will take Tamon to him." To fulfill a promise made with Miwa, Kazumasa sets out on a journey with Tamon to find the "boy."
