Description
[Machine Translation] In the early 18th century, Jean was wandering around Europe as a false monk when he met Inez, an Anglican priest and swindler, on his travels. Jean had been earning money by deceiving himself as a Japanese, but Inez exposed his lie and they decided to join forces. The two travel to England with a plan to get rich by cheating the Bishop of London out of a large sum of money. Following Inez's instructions, Jean creates the fictional country of Formosa, and begins to pretend to be "Georges Salmanazar," and begins to frequent the coffee houses of London's intellectual class, demonstrating his exceptional talent for fraud. He became a socially trusted Formosa friar from faraway lands, and even made his presence known to the Bishop of London. One day, Salmanazar meets a young lady, Cheryl. She is thrilled to meet Salmanazar and brings her father, Oliver, a geographer, into her life. But Oliver sees through Salmanazar's lies. When Salmanazar is asked why he is acting like a crook when he knows enough to be a scholar, he is at a loss for an answer... After finally gaining an audience with the Bishop of London and having succeeded as planned, Inez proposes a further scheme to make money. Inez has a plan to make even more money: to create a fake book, "Formosa Magazine". As Salmanazar's fame grows, he begins to lose his way in life. He eventually tells Cheryl, who offers to help him create "Formosa Magazine," of his decision. There will be no omission or replacement of images or music.
