Description
Written (based on Angela Carter's story) and directed by Neil Jordan, "The Company of Wolves" is a fascinating and inventive updating of the Little Red Riding Hood. Elements of fantasy, dark humour, plus Freudian (and Jungian) symbolisms are blended together superbly to form a unique, dream-like film of unusual visual feast, with the help of excellent photography and special make-up effects. Sarah Patterson is a little seen actress but she's brilliant here as Rosaleen, the "Little Red Riding Hood" character. The rest of the excellent cast includes Angela Lansbury, David Warner, and (unbilled) Terence Stamp, and Jordan's signature/lucky-charm actor Stephen Rea ("The Crying Game").
