¡Sennen Bi
¡Japanese Movie
Description
[Machine Translation] Selected as an invited film for the Kinder Film Competition at the 2005 Berlin International Film Festival! Set in Shingu Town, Fukuoka Prefecture, this is a story of a boy's spiritual rebirth. This human fantasy story is inspired by the "Sennen Fire" that has been passed down for over 1200 years in the town's symbolic Sennen House (Sennenya). This is the first work produced by a public hall in Japan, aiming at transmitting culture from the region and revitalizing the town. The film was originally planned to be screened only at public halls, but the film was so well received in Shingu Town, Fukuoka Prefecture, where it is based, that 10,000 people, or half the population of the town, attended the screening. The film was an official selection of the Regional Film Festival, a project sponsored by the 17th Tokyo International Film Festival.
