Sibelius, Lingberg: Violin Concertos
Lisa Batiashvili (Vn)
Description
[Machine Translation] This is the first album by Lisa Batiashvili, a violinist who attracted attention when she won the second prize at the Sibelius Competition in Helsinki in 2001 at the young age of 16. This is a combination of the world premiere recording of the Sibelius Violin Concerto, which allows us to fully enjoy her reivery and beautiful sound, and the Violin Concerto written by fellow composer Lindberg in 2006 and premiered by Lisa at the Mostly Mozart Music Festival in New York that same year. Performing with her is the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sakari Oramo, a fitting partner for this piece. Batiashvili's intelligent and sensitive violin tone is free and unrestrained, backed by Oramo's deep and sincere backing. At times, the mood changes to the joyful atmosphere of a baroque instrumental work. This album won the grand prize in the concerto category at the 2008 MIDEM AWARDS. This is a commemorative recording of his visit to Japan.
