Description
Titled "Encounter," Igor Levit's latest album is the same two-disc set as his "Life", released in 2018 and dedicated to his late friend, created while going through internal emotional struggles and social experience. It was conceived in the process of Levit's attempt to suppress intense emotions in the midst of the COVID-19 disaster, searching for joy, and the possibility of playing freely and finding all kinds of "encounters" from the music. Recorded in Berlin in late May 2020. With a few exceptions, the original songs were arranged for solo piano from works accompanied by (or composed based on) lyrics. Recorded May 25-28, 2020 at the Church of Jesus Christ in Berlin.
