Co-producer of the original album and Goldsmith's longtime scoring engineer, Bruce Botnick, has completely restored, remixed, and mastered the album from first-generation multi-track masters for the release. This edition includes the complete film score over the beginning of CD1 and CD2, including a short version heard in 1979, which can be enjoyed from the "Alternates" section of CD2, followed by a complete reissue of the original soundtrack content from 1979, which has been recreated from first-generation master recordings. The original soundtrack from 1979 has been reissued in its entirety and reproduced from the first generation master recordings in excellent sound quality.
