 Description
[Machine Translation] On November 9, 2021, writer and Buddhist monk Jakucho Setouchi passed away at the age of 99. She had spent the first half of her life living in love and sublimating her passion into her works, but what made her decide to become a priest was her seven-year-long illicit love affair with Mitsuharu Inoue, a fellow writer who had a wife and child. The film is based on the masterpiece novel written by Arano Inoue, the eldest daughter of the Inoues and a Naoki Prize-winning author, who was in the middle of their love affair. Shinobu Terajima and Etsushi Toyokawa play the main characters, Miharu and later Jakko, and Ryoko Hirosue plays Shouko, Shiraki's wife. Directed and written by Ryuichi Hiroki and Haruhiko Arai, who worked together on "Vibrator" and "Soft Life. The music is composed by Masato Suzuki, who has been active as a producer, arranger, and bassist across genres since his debut as the bassist of Little Creatures. In this film, he adds color to the story with music filled with sadness and tenderness. The closing song, "Koi Gokoro" by singer-songwriter Mariko Hamada, strikes a chord and leaves a lingering impression.
