Description
"Rashomon" is considered by many as one of Akira Kurosawa's best films. The original screenplay for the film was penned by Shinobu Hashimoto, based on the story "Yabu no Naka (In a Grove)" by Ryunosuke Akutagawa. Then the director himself completed the screenplay by adding elements from another story by the same author named "Rashomon." He had already made such popular films as "Sugata Sanshiro" and "Yoidore Tenshi (Drunken Angel)", but this remarkable film put his name on the international map. It stars Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura (both from "The Seven Samurai"). Brilliant cinematographer Kazuo Miyagawa became the first Japanese D.P. to shoot a film within a forrest. Miyagawa also worked with Kurosawa on "Yojimbo," and "Kagemusha" and died in 1999, nearly a year after the death of the director himself. An 8-page booklet included. Remastered with a new telecine (High Definition) from a new master.
