¡Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Description
Regular priced edition. I've been told that the title of "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" was shortened to "PTA" in Japan when it originally came out, and a lot of people automatically assumed it was a drama about parents working with teachers to improve the school for their children (i.e. a "very boring" movie) since PTA usually just stands for "Parent-Teacher Association" in Japan. I thought this was a funny story but I bet the Japanese distributor lost a big chunk of box office income because of that, and I bet they fired the person who thought up that title. This is undoubtedly one of John Hughes' funniest and most lovable comedies. John Candy and Steve Martin star as a pair of guys who are just trying to get home in time for Thanksgiving. Their simple plan goes awry first with the weather due to which Neal's (Martin) flight has been cancelled, followed by more bad lucks. Martin and Candy are both brilliant, and their duo even reminded me of Jack Lemmon/Walter Matthau movies, with Martin sort of reprizing Lemmon's fastidious character to Candy's total slob a la Matthau.
