Description
[Machine Translation] Harmony of "water" that maintains amazing transparency and "light" that pours down. While boasting overwhelming clarity of water, there is a clear stream with a sense of nostalgia that somehow evokes memories deep in the hearts of the Japanese people. The Niyodo River, a 124-km long first-class river, flows from Ehime Prefecture to Kochi Prefecture in Shikoku. The blue water, which can be seen up to 40 meters underwater, is called "Niyodo blue," and its water quality is the best in Japan. Looking at the riverbanks, one can still see the traditional interaction between people and the river, with children playing in the water and fishermen enthusiastically catching ayu (sweetfish). Surprisingly, even the mouth of the river is shining blue. Nature photographer Nobuyuki Takahashi has been photographing the Niyodo River for more than 20 years. Using the latest photographic equipment to capture silver birds flapping their wings in the water and waterfalls shining in rainbow colors, he photographs the four seasons of the Niyodo River from its headwaters to its mouth. The film depicts the unknown clear waters of the Niyodo River. (Broadcasted on NHK Sogo on March 25, 2012) This film, "Mysteries of Niyodo River Blue," depicts the four seasons of the Niyodo River by adding autumn and early winter scenes to "The Unknown Blue World of Niyodo River," which was broadcast in summer 2011 and received the JSC Award in January 2012 and participated in the 2011 Japan Arts Festival.
