¡Mahler Symph. No.3
¡Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

 Description
[Machine Translation] Horneck's Mahler: Symphony No. 3 is Finally Here! Horneck and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra are pleased to announce the release of the new Mahler cycle, Symphony No. 3. The first symphony, "The Giant," won the Mahler Society's Award of Excellence in Vienna, and was also highly praised by Hidekazu Yoshida in Japan. The following piece, "No. 4," also showed rich dynamics and expression, and is still fresh in our memories. In No. 3, the major climax of the cycle, the audience can expect to hear even higher orchestral technique and Horneck's meticulous attention to detail in the music. The mezzo-soprano is Michelle DeYoung, who is well-known for her work with Benard Haitink & Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Tilson Thomas & San Francisco Symphony, and Pierre Boulez & Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Principal trumpet player G. Vosberg plays an active role throughout the entire work, including the post horn in the third movement. The performance is based on the tradition of the legendary trumpet player A. Herseth, formerly of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The outstanding string ensemble and powerful brass tutti boast a level of precision that rivals that of any orchestra in North America today. Enjoy this 80-minute performance! ( HQ Hybrid ) Recorded June 11-15, 2010 at Heinz Hall, Pittsburgh
