¡Musorgskij & Prokofev
¡Classical V.A.
Description
[Machine Translation] Following Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, and Tchaikovsky, conductor Dmitry Kitaenko and the Cologne Gurzenich Orchestra present a recording of Russian music. This time, they perform works related to "Witches' Banquet, Dance of the Grim Reaper, and Battle on the Ice". The original version of "One Night on Bald Mountain" is not the Rimsky-Korsakov arrangement that we usually hear, but the composer's own version, which is attractive for its roughness before repeated revisions. The fact that the piece closes abruptly with the evil spirits running amok until the end is quite shocking to those who are accustomed to the usual version. The other songs include "Songs and Dances of Death," a collection of songs filled with horror, and the powerful "Battle on the Ice," recorded in 2015.
