¡Stravinsky: Petrushka, The Firebird
¡Classical V.A.

 Description
[Machine Translation] Since the 2011/12 season, Kitayenko has been the Music Director of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. As is typical of Kitayenko, who has the Russian repertoire in his own medicine, he has chosen to make his first recording with the Zagreb Philharmonic with Stravinsky's first symphony, "Symphony No. 1," which was written during Stravinsky's training under Rimsky-Korsakov. This piece was written during Stravinsky's apprenticeship under Rimsky-Korsakov (around 1905), and it has a magnificent and beautiful tone that is strongly influenced by Tchaikovsky and Glazunov. Although the work was written in his youth, the performance and sound of the orchestra are fully utilized, and Kitayenko gives full play to the entire piece, including the roar of the brass at the beginning, the lyrical third movement, and the lively final movement. The two "Suites for Small Orchestra" recorded in the margins were originally arranged for orchestra from piano pieces. Both are a mixture of various dances, and Kitayenko emphasizes the character of each piece to create a short but rewarding listening experience.
