¡Graun: Uns Ist Ein Kind Geboren Weihnachtsoratorium
¡Classical V.A.
Description
[Machine Translation] This is the second release of Graun's vocal music on the OEHMS label, following the 2014 recording of "The Death of Jesus" ( OC1809) by Gropper and the Arpa Festante Baroque Orchestra. Karl Heinrich Graun was born in Germany. He was an outstanding singer and composer of mainly vocal music, and composed many operas in the Italian style as well as religious music, and together with his brother Johann Gottlieb, a violinist, he was an important figure in the late German Baroque music. In the 1990s, a copy of the "Christmas Oratorio" was discovered in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and attracted much attention. The exact date and person who transcribed it are unknown, but it is believed to have been written in his 30s. The solemn and beautiful tone of the piece, which freely quotes words from the Bible, is very moving. [Performed by Monika Mauch (soprano) / Marion Eckstein (alto) / Georg Poplutz (tenor) / Immundo Nolte (bass) / Thomas Gropper (conductor) / Artis-Vocalisten Munchen / Alpa Festante Baroque Orchestra
