¡Josef Suk: ASRAEL
¡Classical V.A.
Description
[Machine Translation] Josef Suk was the renowned violinist of the Suk Trio. In 1904, his beloved father-in-law, Dvo ak, passed away, and the following year his beloved wife Ottilje also died. However, Suk overcame his grief and completed the symphony "Asrael" (named after the angel who presides over death) in 1906, which is a profound work with a more original style while showing the influence of Dvo ak and Brahms. The first three movements are a series of lamentations, but the beautiful Adagio in the fourth movement is a memorial to his beloved wife Ottilje, and the final movement offers a glimmer of hope. This is a sympathetic performance by Netopil, who specializes in modern Czech works.
