The album was mixed by Darrell Thorpe, who also produced Beck's "Modern Gilt", Charlotte Gainsbourg's "IRM", and Radiohead's "Hail to the Thief". Recording members include artists who have been essential to Thurston & Beck's work. Joey Waronker (Atoms for Peace) on percussion, Bram Inscore (Charlotte Gainsbourg) on bass, Samara Lubelsky (violin), who played on the previous album, and Mary Lattimore (harp), who plays on Kurt Weill's Matador albums. The CD cover was designed by Stephen Parrino, an American contemporary artist, and the album title is taken from "It's Time" by the 80's DC punk band, The Face.
