¡Lost Not Forgotten Archives: The Making Of Scenes From A Memory - The Sessions (1999)[Import Disc]
¡Dream Theater
Description
[Machine Translation] Dream Theater has been periodically releasing their treasured live, demo, and studio outtakes as official bootlegs in the "Lost Not Forgotten Archives" series. The 21st volume in the series documents the making of the band's 5th album "Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory", the band's 1999 masterpiece, which is regarded as one of the band's best albums ever. After failing to achieve the radio success they had hoped for with their fourth album Falling Into Infinity in 1997, the band decided to put into action the grand plan they had already begun demoing at that time: to record their own progressive rock album, Scenes from a Memory. The band decided to make their first concept album in order to present their identity as a progressive rock band more clearly. The goal was to create a dramatic and thrilling rock opera about reincarnation, a development of the classic song "Metropolis Part 1" from their 1992 album Images and Words. This would be the definitive album that would make them one of a kind. This album is a rare glimpse into the process (songwriting sessions, rehearsals, outtakes, etc.) of building a meticulously spun story through a process of trial and error. The album was previously released on Ytsejam Records, a limited production label, and is now being reissued in a long-awaited reissue with the latest mastering and new artwork.
