As with their previous releases, the band members all contributed songs and ideas, and the whole process was guided by the chemistry between the members in the studio, without over-rehearsing. The overall sound is modern, fat rock rooted in the blues, but with a horn section, cheap barroom piano tones, southern gospel-style organ sounds, and atmospheric synthesizer studies, sometimes funk-like, sometimes country. The album also features funk-like and country-like elements, and strongly expresses the band's deep love and passion for music. Chris Robertson's 5-year-old son sings backing vocals on "You Got The Blues," and Warren Haynes of Government Mule contributes guitar and vocals on "Dancing In The Rain.
