The striking album cover for "Rattle That Lock" was designed by Aubrey Powell of Hypnosis, following Pink Floyd's "Eternity (TOWA)". Dave Stansby of The Creative Corporation served as director under Aubrey's creative direction. The title track, "Rattle That Lock," begins with the sound of a French National Railways ( SNCF ) station announcement, which Gilmour recorded on his iPhone at the Aix-en-Provence station in France. The lyrics by Polly Samson were inspired by John Milton's Paradise Lost, Volume 2 (which also appears in Polly Samson's recent book, The Kindness). The single also features Liberty Choir and singers Micah Paris and Louise Marshall.
