¡Dogen Zenji Chu(Shincho Bunko)
¡Tatematsu Wahei

 Description
[Machine Translation] Dogen met his longed-for master, Nyojo, at Tendoji Temple in the Song dynasty (960-1279), where he underwent ascetic training, attained a state of mental and physical enlightenment, and received a seal of approval from him. Upon his return to Eiheiji, Dogen's teachings, in which he strove to attain enlightenment through the practice of takkan-daza (zazen), or meditation, attracted the later successor to Eiheiji, Kaijo, and other followers. Dogen built Koseiji Temple in Fukakusa, Kyoto, with the support of Prince Kuniko of Ankamonin and others. For the first time, Dogen preached at his own dojo in front of many disciples and followers. This monumental work, written in the ninth year of his life, approaches the real image of the founder of the Soto sect in Japan. Winner of the 35th Izumi Kyoka Literary Award and the 5th Shinran Award.
