Description
[Machine Translation] Japan's first medium tank, the Type 89 was initially developed as a light tank for supporting infantry weighing no more than 11 tons, and was deployed in the Manchurian Incident from November 1931. Later, due to an increase in weight resulting from a redesign of the vehicle body, it was treated as a medium tank, and served as the main tank in the Sino-Japanese War that began in July 1937. It was also deployed to the Navy's Shanghai Special Land Forces, participated in the Nomonhan Incident, and fought in the Pacific War in the Philippines and southern islands against the backdrop of old age. This book contains many rare and unpublished photographs collected by the author, showing the Type 89 medium tank, known as the "Iron Bull" or "Iron Lion," in action at training grounds in Japan and on the battlefields of other countries*.
