Finally, the first software version is available! The original work of Osamu Tezuka, directed by Kon Ichikawa, and starring an all-star cast, is now available on Blu-ray in high-definition HD master and with luxurious specifications! In 1978, master director Kon Ichikawa created the feature film "Hi no Tori (Fire Bird)" as the first film adaptation of the eternal masterpiece by master filmmaker Osamu Tezuka. Since its nationwide theatrical release, it has never been released as a packaged software in Japan, and its name has been passed down as a masterpiece among movie fans, comic fans, and special effects fans. Forty-three years have passed since then, and in December of this year (2021), the film will finally be released on Blu-ray using a high-definition HD master for the first time. Based on the original "Reimeihen," this 2-hour and 17-minute blockbuster was produced using the triple-multi-technique of "live-action + animation + special effects," which was unprecedented in Japanese cinema until then. The Blu-ray version uses the high quality HD master produced from the original negative. Rare special reports and trailers from the time of the film's release have been newly recreated from the negatives and included as bonus footage. The tall disc case is housed in a gold-printed sleeve case with a color illustration for the film's poster drawn by Osamu Tezuka. A 36-page booklet with interviews with the main staff, new making-of articles, and pictures of promotional materials is also included.
