Description
[Machine Translation] Koreko's beloved aunt, Iseko, is the mistress of Monzai Izuminaka, the president of a munitions factory who later becomes a politician. Monzai had said he would leave his wife to be with Iseko, but there was no sign that he was going to do so. Eventually, Iseko commits suicide in a hot spring in northeastern Japan, where the legend of Izumi-Shikibu still remains. Koreko harbors a grudge against Monzai, but at the same time, she gradually becomes attracted to the selfish and masculine Monzai. This work, which won the 5th Mainichi Art Award, is an unabashed depiction of Koreko's life, comparing her past as described in her diary with that of Izumi-Shikibu, who also had a husband and was drowned in lust.
