¡Collection Nippon Kajin Sen 042
¡Waka Bungaku Kai / Kanshu
Description
[Machine Translation] Welcome to the Forest of Poetry. This is the first anthology of 60 volumes, edited so that you can enjoy the excellent poems of Japan's representative poets themselves, from Kakimoto Honinmaro to Terayama Shuji and Tsukamoto Kunio. This is Otomo no Iemochi from the "Collection Nihon Utajin Sentaku" (Selected Poets of Japan). Iemochi had a sensitive sensitivity to sorrow and a tender heart. He left 473 poems in the Manyoshu (Anthology of Myriad Leaves), including poems about women, seasonal nature and customs of Ecchu and his mood toward them, and poems about the changes of the times and his state of mind. Iemochi was probably the most famous poet of his day, and it is thought that he was the one who finally compiled the various volumes of poems that had been individually compiled over the generations into the present form. Iemochi's poems, which represent the final stages of the Manyo period, show a delicate and melancholy style that could be called the germ of waka poetry of the Heian period.
