Sympathy
Hitomi Nishiyama Trio
Description
[Machine Translation] Hitomi Nishiyama, a world-renowned pianist/composer, presents her 9th album! After winning the Grand Prix at the Yokohama Jazz Promenade Jazz Competition in 2005, Hitomi Nishiyama became the first Japanese to perform at the Stockholm Jazz Festival in 2007, and in 2010 she won third place in the jazz category at the International Songwriting Competition, the largest composition competition in the United States. In 2010, Hitomi Nishiyama won third place in the jazz category of the International Songwriting Competition's "Unfolding Universe" and was selected as a semi-finalist in the "Soul Travel" competition. Like "Music In You", which was highly acclaimed in various fields, this album was recorded with the regular trio of Yasuhiko "Hachi" Sato (bass) and Kazumi Ikenaga (drums), and is mainly composed of solo and ensemble pieces, following the trend from "Music In You". The title track "Sympathy", with its fragile yet beautiful piano melody, opens the album, followed by "Scarlet", a fast-paced number with delicate cymbal work and dignified piano playing, and a gracefully dancing ensemble of piano, bass, and drums. The song continues with M-3 "Tack," which means "thank you" in Swedish. The three intelligent and sophisticated musicians' conversation is filled with grace and elegance, and the song beautifully captures the new appeal of Hitomi Nishiyama with a touch of femininity.
