¡Shiiku
¡Japanese Movie
Description
[Machine Translation] Based on Kenzaburo Oe's novel of the same title, this controversial film was the first independent film directed by Nagisa Oshima after leaving Shochiku. In early summer near the end of the war, an American B-29 crashes into a mountain village near Tokyo. The villagers take a captured black soldier to the village with an iron chain around his ankle, lock him up in the landowner's warehouse, and "keep" him on a rotating basis. Includes a 52-page explanatory leaflet.
