¡J.S.Bach: Missa in A major, etc.
¡Masaaki Suzuki (conductor)

 Description
[Machine Translation] SACD hybrid disc. Bach Collegium Japan's second release of Lutheran masses features two Bach masses and Marco Giuseppe Peranda's Mass in A minor. Bach's Mass in A major, BWV 234, completed in Leipzig around 1737, is a masterpiece with a pastoral atmosphere, using only two flutes for the wind part. On the other hand, the Mass in F major, BWV233 is a revision of "Kyrie-Christ, O Lamb of God," BWV233a, which is said to have been written in the Weimar period, and all the movements of the Gloria are based on the old work. The coupling is the Mass in A minor by Marco Giuseppe Peranda ( 1625-75 ). The Italian-born Peranda's works are characterized by the development of beautiful melodic lines, both solo and ensemble. He is also considered to have laid the foundation for the motet style. One of the composers who greatly influenced his contemporaries in Central and Northern Germany, he is also an important composer for understanding Bach's works. To hear Masaaki Suzuki and the Bach Collegium Japan perform this work is the height of luxury. Recorded in February 2014 (1, 2) and February 2015 (3) at Kobe Shoin Women's Gakuin University Chapel. [Performers] Hana Bruskova, Joanne Lang, Aki Matsui (soprano), Robin Blaise (alto), Katsuhiko Nakajima, Gerd Turck, Yusuke Fujii (tenor), Peter Coy, Dominik Werner (bass), Masaaki Suzuki (conductor), Bach Collegium Japan
