¡Meiko Miyazawa (piano)
Description
[Machine Translation] The Piano Sonata by Yoshinao Nakata, a lifetime achievement. The world premiere and only recording of this work has been preserved by King as performed by Akiko Miyazawa! Akiko Miyazawa, a graduate of Toho Gakuen School of Music, Yale University, and Juilliard School, is a renowned pianist who won second prize without first prize at the 1963 Geneva International Music Competition and first prize at the 1964 Viotti International Music Competition. In the 1960s, she recorded three of Yoshinao Nakata's major piano works! Yoshinao Nakata is famous for many songs and nursery rhymes, such as "Memories of Summer" and "Snow Falling in the City," but his piano works are important to his repertoire, as he studied under Noboru Toyomasu after graduating from the piano department of Tokyo Music School (now Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music) and aspiring to become a pianist. Nakata was not satisfied with his "Piano Sonata," which won second prize at the Japan Music Competition in 1959, and he spent the next 20 years rewriting it until it was completed in 1969. In the liner notes, Nakata expresses his admiration and praise for Akiko Miyazawa's performance, which lived up to his expectations. This is the first CD release of "Piano Sonata" from the LP ( SKR-1001 ) released in 1967, which had never been released before due to the lack of a coupling song. Including the first release of the unreleased sound source (Piano Sonata).
