Description
Satoshi Kon jumpstarted his career as a feature filmmaker with the mindbending animated mystery "Perfect Blue." He followed up its success with another excellent film, "Millennium Actress," a sophisticated romantic fantasy like no other. Now comes "Tokyo Godfathers," his third feature-length animated opus. Inspired by John Ford's "Three Godfathers," the film centers around three homeless people who find an abandoned baby on a cold Christmas Eve. Together, they search for the infant's parents, and their adventure turns into an incredible journey of self discovery. This brilliant film is moving, funny and hopeful, but never overly sentimental, and achieves a strange "realism" only a Japanese animated film can.
