Description
Directed by Jean-Pierre Melville, the acclaimed 'film noir' director known today as one of the filmmakers who influenced John Woo. It's a story of a lone hitman (Alain Delon) who lives by his own set of codes, a la modern day Samurai. The minimalistic plot, the deliberately paced style... it's easy to see how this film inspired Woo in the making of his classic "The Killer". There's been countless homages paid to this film throughout the years. In Walter Hill's "Red Heat", the stoic ('samourai' like) Russian cop played by Arnold Schwartzenegger feeds his little bird each day before going to work, just like Alain Delon in this film.
